Research
1985 – CURRENT
Bill Jensen is President/CEO of The Jensen Group, a consultancy
whose mission is to make it easier to get stuff done.

He has spent more than two decades
researching how work
gets done. His basic conclusion, "Woah. We’ve got a long way
to go! How about some discipline around some commonsensical
basics?":
• We must reinvent communication skills;
Wincluding how people present ideas, and see patterns
• We must reinvent our tools and infrastructure to meet
Wthe needs of the people doing the work

Bill is an
information architect with 30 years of experience
in communication and change consulting.

His first book,
Simplicity, has been hailed as a "breakthrough
in the design of understanding." It is in print in over 15
different languages, and was Amazon’s Number 5 Leadership/
Management book in 2000. While sitting among the best-seller
lists was nice, the acclaim that made him most proud was
being called a knowledge worker’s
Studs Terkel. "I focus on
how real people get real work done," he says.

His next book,
Work 2.0, is about changing the rules in the
war for talent — putting more control in the hands of the
workforce. "It’s time for productivity to get personal," he says.

Then,
Simplicity Survival Handbook arrives telling people to
"DO LESS! Do less of the corporate silliness. Ignore more of
the noise and senseless stuff that comes your way.
You deserve better."

His latest,
What is Your Life’s Work?, captures the intimate
exchanges between mothers and daughters, fathers and sons,
and caring teammates, all talking about what matters at work,
and in life.

Jensen Group staffers currently number only 2-3 and all team-
work and large projects are done through alliances. Bill works
from his home-base in
Morristown, NJ.

(MS Academic Degree: In spirit of full disclosure: Summer 2001, review board
at RIT decided that one-half of one course was completed too late after their
statute of limitations. I'm counting it as done: I completed all courses for MS
with As and a couple Bs. But review board withheld degree on a technicality.
In case I decide to run for public office someday, didn’t want this to come out
as an undisclosed secret in my closet.)
